An Annual Article on All Things Artistic

Welcome to my first annual art update. I fell in love encaustic collage (using hot wax to fuse elements)and in 2009 launched m-Caustic as a brand for my artwork. My involvement with Pyramid Atlantic Art Center continues as a board member, screenprinter and on the steering committee of the 2012 Book Arts Fair. Nurturing my artistic side has ultimately—and ironically—made me appreciate graphic design as never before. Here are some highlights of 2012:

Gail's Gallery. Dropped in to the newly-opened Williams McCall Gallery in South Beach, Miami to see some of my represented collage work.

Boxed Up. Participated in the Artists' Gallery Box Show in Frederick, MD. Working in 3-D was a good stretch. The box swivels on a lazy susan, and features an antler that I found in Sligo Creek Park.

Screenprinted Scrolls. Unveiled the Sargasso Sea Scrolls, a collaborative project at Pyramid with more than 20 artists, bringing awareness to this fragile ocean area.

Artomatic. Exhibited new collages based on vintage family photography for DC's art extravanganza.

Booked Up. Exhibited in Takoma Park's "Art of the Tree" at Artspring. My diptych focused on paper used for books. Excited to be included in Linda Womack's upcoming e-book Embracing Encaustic.
